RYA Powerboating Level 2
Course content: All you need to know for self-sufficient Powerboating at a basic level. Course includes launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery plus all the boat driving skills required for basic competence in a powerboat.
Pre-course experience: None (but may be preceded by level 1)
Assumed knowledge: None
Ability after the course: Self-sufficient power boater in the right conditions; aware of own limitations and those of craft. You can further your ability by doing a Powerboat safety course which will equip you with the necessary skills for safe rescue and recovery of other water users.
Duration: 2 days, which runs from 0930 - 1630 both days.
Group size: 3:1 Instructor
Restrictions: Participants must be confident in open water.
Age: 12 (under 16 will be endorsed) - 80
If any of the participants are under 18 years of age the parent or guardian must sign on their behalf on the booking form.
Clothing required: Please bring with you suitable clothing for the time of year and weather conditions. Jeans and Wellington boots are not suitable and you will not be permitted to take part wearing these items. Footwear is NOT provided and you are required to bring trainers or aqua shoes to wear.Showers and changing facilities are provided on site.
Special information: West Wales Wind Surf and Sailing is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and there is plenty for the spectator to do.
Meal Arrangements: There is a café serving hot and cold meals within the centre building. There is also a waterside pub (although it is recommended not to drink alcohol whilst participating in Watersports). There are plenty of places to enjoy a packed lunch.
Weather Restrictions: We will continue with the course only if it is safe to do so.
Other information: Dale has an excellent water quality and is a blue flag beach.
