RYA Windsurfing Youth Stage 3 (Coastal)

Using the RYA's Fastfwd coaching formula, your instructor will help you to correctly set up your board and rig, enhance your stance on all points of sailing and introduce basic harness techniques in stronger winds. Now's the time to hook in and hang on.

Pre-course experience: Competent Stage 2 windsurfer

Assumed knowledge: Stage 2 standard

Course content: A mixture of theory and practical, introducing beach starting and harness technique, with spent improving tacking and gybing in stronger winds

Ability after course: Be able to sail on all points of sailing in a variety of conditions. Knowing when to tack and gybe, use the harness and beachstart

Duration: 2 days (can also be done as a series of half days)

Group size: maximum of 6 group

Restrictions: Participants must be confident in open water

Age: 8 - 16
If any of the participants are under 18 years of age the parent or guardian must sign on their behalf on the booking form

Clothing required: Please bring with you suitable clothing for the time of year and weather conditions. Jeans and Wellington boots are not suitable and you will not be permitted to take part wearing these items. Footwear is NOT provided and you are required to bring trainers or aqua shoes to wear.
Showers and changing facilities are provided on site.

Special information: West Wales Wind Surf and Sailing is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and there is plenty for the spectator to do

Meal Arrangements: There is a café serving hot and cold meals within the centre building. There is also a waterside pub (although it is recommended not to drink alcohol whilst participating in Watersports). There are plenty of places to enjoy a packed lunch.

Weather Restrictions: All courses will proceed according to the weather conditions on the day and if it is safe to do so

Other information: Dale has excellent water quality and is a blue flag beach
