Course content: Provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat by day or night in known or unfamiliar waters, as well as the skippers role and boat handling in more demanding conditions. Includes pilotage, navigation and boat handling techniques for planing boats on coastal waters by day and night

Pre-course experience: Candidates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Power boat certificate

Assumed knowledge: Navigation and chart work to the level of Day Skipper Shore based certificate

Ability after course: able to plan and execute coastal trips including return to a familiar port by night

Duration: 2days and 1 night

Group size: 3:1

Restrictions: Participants must be confident in open water

Age: 17
If any of the participants are under 18 years of age the parent or guardian must sign on their behalf on the booking form

Clothing required: Please bring with you suitable clothing for the time of year and weather conditions. Jeans and Wellington boots are not suitable and you will not be permitted to take part wearing these items. Footwear is NOT provided and you are required to bring trainers or aqua shoes to wear.
Showers and changing facilities are provided on site.

Special information: West Wales Wind Surf and Sailing is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and there is plenty for the spectator to do

Meal Arrangements: There is a café serving hot and cold meals within the centre building. There is also a waterside pub (although it is recommended not to drink alcohol whilst participating in Watersports). There are plenty of places to enjoy a packed lunch.

Weather Restrictions: The course will go ahead if it is safe to do so

Other information: Dale has excellent water quality and is a blue flag beach
